Showcase on a Shoestring
The Peninsula Art Auction is a biannual fundraiser run by the Lyttelton Education Charitable Trust and is close to my heart. A wonderful art exhibition and auction run entirely by volunteers, showcasing work by well-known artists including Bill Hammond, Jason Grieg, Ben Reid alongside up-and-coming artists from Banks Peninsula. The local Lyttelton Primary School is transformed overnight to a professional-looking, pop-up gallery.

How do you showcase an event and attract the kind of art buyers you need, on virtually no budget?
This is the challenge that the Art Auction committee faces every event. It is essential that every piece of marketing material produced is cheap to reproduce and works hard for the event.I designed punchy, eye-catching graphics paired with selected works from the exhibition. Posters and flyers were printed cheaply in black and white, sometimes even on the school photocopier when necessary! For more impact online and in sponsored printed material, a pop of yellow was added. The chosen design needed to consistently run across all posters, catalogues, invitations, flyers, social media, website and signage.
“Where do I begin? I love working with Kim, her calm manner, sense of humour, and her ability to deliver great designs, make the long hours worth while!”
