Challenge:
Design a Logo in a Day

There’s nothing I love more than a juicy challenge and a great bunch of problem-solvers to work with.

And that’s exactly what I had when working on a new logo for The Green Lab. They needed to rebrand as they moved from the nonprofit organisation, Greening the Rubble, to a social enterprise with the mission to connect people with nature in the urban environment.

Challenge accepted.

With the day set aside, brief in hand, a group of four designers from TimeZoneOne (the agency I was working for at the time) set themselves the challenge to create a new logo in a day! The plan was to work to tight time blocks and touch-base with the clients, Puck and Khye, via Zoom calls at regular intervals.

It turned out to be a winning formula.

We were able to work quickly on concepts and get real-time feedback from The Green Lab team before we progressed too far. No time wasted putting together fancy presentations, we nailed the direction of the logo by lunchtime. The afternoon was spent on refining the logo and exploring the brand as a whole. We applied the new logo and colours and imagery to items such as Powerpoint templates, application templates and business cards. All in a days work!
